Frequently asked questions
Which compressor for one dental chair?
A 30–35 L oil-free compressor covers one chair in normal use. Two chairs need a 50–60 L unit; three or more need a multi-motor system. See our compressor sizing guide.
Do I need an air dryer?
In coastal or tropical markets, yes. Moisture in the air line is the most common cause of premature handpiece failure.
Why should a dental air compressor be oil-free?
Compressed air drives the handpieces and is blown onto the tooth through the 3-way syringe. An oil-free compressor keeps oil mist out of that air, which protects handpiece bearings and keeps bonding surfaces clean.
Wet-ring or dry suction?
A wet-ring pump uses water while it runs and is the simple choice for a single chair (VS-1). Dry central suction with a separator (VS-5) uses little water, which suits multi-chair clinics where the water supply is intermittent. Our "Dental Suction Systems Explained" page covers hoses, drains and sizing.
