Registering and importing dental equipment in Morocco

Dental chairs and units are medical devices in Morocco under Law 84-12 and its 2014 decree, and must be registered before they are sold. The registration used to be handled by the health ministry's Direction du Médicament et de la Pharmacie; since 2025 it belongs to the new Agence marocaine des médicaments et des produits de santé (AMMPS), which runs a registration commission and is moving filings to its electronic portals. Devices are classed I, IIa, IIb and III on the European model — a dental treatment unit is generally Class IIa — and a registration is valid for five years, with a decision due within 120 days of a complete file.

The registration is held by a Moroccan import or distribution establishment declared to the agency — the dealer or importer — and a foreign manufacturer cannot hold it; a shipment without a valid registration is blocked at customs. Morocco leans on European conformity, so the manufacturer's file is built around the CE certificate and declaration of conformity for the dental units, an ISO 13485 certificate, a Certificate of Free Sale, the technical file, photographs of the device and its labelling, and labelling and instructions in French (Arabic is also accepted). We issue these against the model numbers on your order and apply French labelling at the factory. Since July 2026 spare parts for medical equipment need a specific import authorisation as well, which your importer obtains.

Customs. Morocco has free-trade agreements with the EU, the US, Turkey and several Arab countries but not with China, so Chinese-origin chairs pay the general duty on the customs value plus 20% VAT and a small parafiscal import levy; your transitaire confirms the tariff line and rate before you fix a resale price. The importer files its import commitment electronically on PortNet. We prepare the invoice, packing list and certificate of origin to match the declaration.

Power, air and water in a Moroccan clinic

Morocco's mains supply is 230 V at 50 Hz with Type C and E (French) sockets, so the standard 220 V / 50 Hz version of our chairs and compressors is the right one — the same version that runs across Europe and Africa. Supply is stable in the cities. Practical points:

• A stabiliser or UPS on the chair's control unit remains cheap insurance against surges.
• Size any backup for the compressor. The chair draws little; the compressor decides whether a UPS or small generator copes. Ask us for its running and starting current.
• Oil-free compressors need no oil changes, and a dryer keeps handpiece air dry on the humid Atlantic coast; in Marrakech and the interior, give the compressor a ventilated, dust-free cabinet.

Water: the dental unit runs on filtered water or a bottle-fed system; the autoclave on distilled water — a 4-litre distiller covers a single-chair practice.

Shipping from Foshan to Tanger Med and Casablanca

Our factory is in Foshan, an hour from the container ports of Guangzhou (Nansha) and Shenzhen. Tanger Med, the largest container port in Africa and a hub on the Asia–Europe route, is quoted at about 22–30 days port to port and serves Tangier and the north, with the motorway to Rabat and Casablanca in a few hours; Casablanca, the main commercial import port, is about 35 days and serves the centre of the country directly. Tell us which port your transitaire works from and we book accordingly.

A single chair or a small first order goes as LCL (shared container); a first order for resale is usually a 20 ft container. The packing data we send with every quotation lists how many chairs and equipment combinations fit in a 20 ft and a 40 ft container. Small items — handpieces, curing lights, cameras — can travel by air to Casablanca in about a week.

We quote FOB Guangzhou or Shenzhen for dealers with their own forwarder, or delivered to the Moroccan port when you prefer one price that includes the sea freight. Payment is by T/T or L/C; lead time is confirmed on the proforma invoice and sample units ship first.

Buying as a clinic or as a dealer

Clinics. Yes, we sell single units directly — one chair for a new practice, a second chair for a growing clinic, or a replacement for an old unit. In Morocco the device must be registered and imported by a declared establishment, so we either introduce you to our distributor, who holds the registrations and installs, or work with the licensed importer you nominate and support your technician by video during the first installation.

Dealers. Moroccan dealers work with us under the distributor programme: factory-direct pricing tiered by quantity, the registration document pack with French labelling, marketing files, remote technical training and a spare-parts kit with the first container. Territory exclusivity is discussed once a partner meets an annual commitment. Most partnerships begin with a trial of one to a few units, then a first container once the chairs are registered and installed.
